Kleinia stapeliiformis, previously Senecio stapeliaeformis is an erect succulent shrublet with tiny vestigial leaves, hardly noticed or hardly noticed as leaves. The stems are blue-green, succulent, cylindrical and longitudinally striped. The flowerheads grow solitary on long slender stems from the stem tops, blooming in spring and summer. The seed-heads hold a multitude of fluffy whitish seeds.

In this photo the colour change of imminent opening on the flower bud bracts can be seen, as well as the constriction on the stem that represents the rest between two growing seasons.
