Image information

Description

The fruits of Kumara haemanthifolia are thickly ovoid, three-sectioned capsules. Their colouring is somewhere between green and purple on the plant in picture. Some of the seams are visible where the capsules will eventually split to release the flat seeds. Also to be seen are the papery remains of some withered perianths.

The cluster of capsules is short and dense, similar to the earlier shape of the flat-topped flower raceme (Van Wyk and Smith, 2003; Reynolds, 1974; iSpot).
