Description

The leadworts belong to the Plumbaginaceae family and are dicots, i.e. the seeds have two embrionic leaves.

When a plant becomes popular worldwide as a garden plant, the horticultural cultivars often exceed the natural plant in attractiveness due to manipulative selection by specialist gardeners. Indigenous gardeners will decide for themselves whether to go for the natural or 'developed' versions or both.
