Image information

Description

The flowers of Ruschiella argentea grow solitary or in small groups on longish stalks from stem-tips. There are five, fleshy sepals.

The short, oblong and bluntly pointed petals spread in one to two whorls around the centre. The petals are pink-purple with pale mid-stripes, or about white. Corollas are 2 cm to slightly bigger in diameter. The stamens are surrounded by purple-tipped, filamentous staminodes in a tight cone constricted in its midsection.

The fruit is initially red and fleshy on top, the five-locular capsule lacking closing bodies becoming woody (iNaturalist; https://enjoysucculents.com).
