Image information

Description

The leaves of Cotyledon woodii are mostly seen at branch tips, sessile (stalkless) or nearly so. They are variable in colour, from grey-green or blue-green to the yellowish green in the photo. The upper half of the leaf, particularly the upper margin may be dark red, even nearly purple.

The leaf bodies are thickly succulent, elliptic or obovate to nearly round discs about 2,5 cm long, 1 cm wide and flattish. Leaf surfaces are sticky with glandular hairs and shiny, their margins smooth and entire, apart from a tiny apical tip (Smith and Crouch, 2009; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
