Image information

Description

The two-lipped, pink flowers of Tritoniopsis lata var. lata grow in a spirally twisted spike, similar to those of other Tritoniopsis species. The flowering stem does not normally branch. The upper tepal is larger than the rest, all of them with wavy margins. A narrow, dark line runs along the centre of each of the lower three tepals, from the base halfway to the tips, with white lines on its margins. The curved corolla tube becomes up to 1 cm long.

Short, triangular and dry brown bracts are positioned at the base of each flower, visible in the photo. Flowering happens in autumn (Manning, 2007; iSpot).
