Image information

Description

The flowering stem of the Trachyandra muricata inflorescence is an about cylindrical scape, sturdy enough to sustain a large panicle in terrain known for strong winds. The lower stems may be densely hairy. Cattle are fond of eating these plants.

The Afrikaans common name is rolboskool (tumbleweed cabbage or literally: roll bush cabbage) (Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
