The flowerheads of Osteospermum scariosum grow on long peduncles above the leaves. One ring of oblong, female ray florets surrounds the golden-yellow central disc populated by tiny, tubular disc florets that are five-lobed and male.

The rays taper to doubly notched tips. They are pale yellow with short maroon or bluish black sections at the base. In picture the yellow at the tips of the rays shades gradually into whitish on the lower parts of the yellow sections. Flower diameter is about 3 cm.

Flowering happens from late winter to early summer (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR).
