Image information

Description

The golden yellow flowerheads of Oedera genistifolia grow on short stalks in small stem-tip clusters of three to fifteen.

About four rows of involucral bracts hold the compact disc florets surrounded by one sparse row of ray florets together in each head or capitulum. The rays are narrowly elliptic to oblong with notched tips. The disc florets are five-lobed and bisexual. Flowerheads are about 6 mm in diameter.

Flowering happens from late winter to early summer.

The pappus that follows the florets in the flowerhead is crown-shaped, its scales cohering. The individual fruits are oblong, three-angled and hairy (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Mustart, et al, 1997; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://keyserver.lucidcentral.org).
