Eleven Arctotheca populifolia ray florets spread and curve variably here around the partly yellow central disc that promises more of its florets to open soon. The currently open disc floret is not the first, notably spreading its five triangular corolla lobes and exserting inner floral parts. Some earlier disc florets have left indistinct withered parts, while the globose buds in the centre are still to perform.

Some A. populifolia leaves have rounded tips, while the main one in picture flaunts an asymmetrical notch and protruding hairy mucro at the top (Manning, 2007; Mustart, et al, 1997; iNaturalist).
