Image information

Description

The Crassula nudicaulis var. platyphylla flower buds grow in compact clusters at the nodes of the flower stem. Still green and fleshy before they open, some reddish tips are present, turned generally red at the top of the inflorescence.

The open flowers will be creamy green to pale yellow. Flowering happens in spring; the photo was taken in September on Jakkalskop at Calitzdorp.

The widely spaced, opposite stem leaves appear white and fused in picture, continuing as bracts among the flowers (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015).
