Image information

Description

This closed bud of Strumaria gemmata shows the white tepal margins not being freed yet and therefore still straight, beside the purplish central band on the outside surface of each tepal. Towards the base of the bud the purple colouring is replaced by green on the bud in picture.

The pedicel appears fleshy and also purplish, the purple ovary between pedicel and closed corolla (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Wikipedia).
